出身台灣高雄眷村的男星鄒兆龍，5歲時爸爸就過世，因此他很小就出來工作幫忙家計，一邊跟夥伴們學習武術，希望能成為武打明星，他也真因此進入業界，12歲就在電影片場工作，幫各劇組打雜，頂多擔任武打電影演員的替身，直到18歲，苦心修習各種武術的鄒兆龍終於被看見，被巨星洪金寶相中，收入洪家班。
鄒兆龍進了洪金寶團隊，洪金寶覺得他外型俊俏出眾，是個可造之材，因此決定大力栽培，18歲就讓他主演電影《全力反彈》，還多次促成他與偶像李連杰合作，讓人印象最深刻的，是在《中南海保鑣》中，飾演李連杰唯的一對手王建軍，武術皇帝李連杰更曾公開盛讚，鄒兆龍是唯一讓他感到壓力的反派對手。
即使早期的李連杰電影總能看到鄒兆龍的身影，但他在圈內的發展卻始終平淡，直到一次偶然的機會，他被相中出演周星馳電影
