Last Monday evening, Circles of Hope, Pratt County hosted a Big View Conversation. Big Views are hosted four times a year for the purpose of engaging our Circle Leaders as well as the rest of the community in conversations that are of interest to most everyone. Last evening s topic was Affordable Family Fun Things to Do. With school being out in the near future and the weather becoming warmer everyone is looking to get out and do something together.
Presenters for the evening included Sandy Evans for Rolla Rena. The Rink is a great place to have a birthday party, special event or just going out for a great time and a bit of exercise. The Rolla Rena also has skate mates that can be used for those just learning to skate or those a bit unsure of themselves on wheels. They are open on Fridays from 2-9 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. and again from 2 to 9 p.m. or of course, can be rented at other times. Rolla Rena also rents skates, has a full se

Pratt is unique in its small-town ability to help people needing help. Three local organizations available here for those seeking assistance are the Hope Center, Circles of Hope, Pratt County, and Prairie Independent Living Resource Center, Inc. (PILR, pronounced Pillar). These three programs function independently, yet as they work together, more people are helped.
“These organizations work together so no one group is spinning its wheels,” said Pam Ford, Director of the Hope Center. “We are cohesive so real help happens.”
The Hope Center is the hub of help in town. Its purpose is to offer a coordinated and partnered approach to serving the community and to meet the needs of individuals and families. Within the Center one can find the Agape Health Clinic, the Paper Pantry (goods are supplied by the Episcopal Church), and the Hope Emergency Food Pantry. Circles of Hope, Pratt County is starting the next 12-week beginners class on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 5:30 p.m.
Circles is a community-supported organization that works with folks experiencing poverty and seeking to learn how to manage their finances. Members of the class look at their income and outgo, learn about budgeting, consider how to improve a credit score and much more. Building supportive relationships with others in Circles is an additional benefit.
Getting out of poverty is easier when there is a circle of support. After completion of the 12 week program, there is an 18-month program that matches class members (called Circle Leaders) with two supportive volunteers (Allies) and provides on-going learning and support.
