The Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater offers virtual cinema access to “The Library that Dolly Built,” a documentary that examines the history, impact and future of America s largest nongovernmental children s literacy program.
Since its inception in 1995, global music icon and humanitarian Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has gifted more than 150 million books to young children. Narrated by Danica McKellar, (“The Wonder Years”), this behind-the-scenes glimpse into the literacy-focused nonprofit chronicles how Parton built the international program. “Of all the things I’ve done in my life, this is one of the most precious things,” says Parton, the child of impoverished parents and an illiterate father from rural Tennessee.

Starting Friday, Dec. 18, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Farewell Amor,” a compassionate drama inspired by a true story about a newly reunited immigrant family of three.
After 17 years in exile, Walter’s wife and daughter from Angola are reunited with him in the U.S.; now absolute strangers, they must share a one-bedroom apartment. The family struggles to overcome the personal and political hurdles between them, sacrificing the lives they built while separated. As they discover a shared love of Angolan dance, the distance they feel may help them rediscover each other.
