Fox Valley food initiative partners with Aurora s African American Men of Unity   Updated 4/27/2021 7:22 PM Just Food Initiative of the Fox Valley is a faith- and hope-based organization of individuals committed to building just and sustainable food systems. Young Black students have been chosen by partner African American Men of Unity of Aurora, to be participants in this year s JFI Young Black Agri-preneurs of Kane County program. The program began Saturday, April 3. The students approximately 10 Black boys are learning where foods come from, understanding soil and how it produces plant foods, and why clean and green foods are so vital to their own bodies both brain and brawn. Program lessons will be capped off with four of the approximately 10 participants planting their own individual gardens over Memorial Day weekend. The food they grow will belong to their own family.
