But not everyone, especially the people being priced out of once-affordable neighborhoods, is happy seeing the past obliterated. All the asphalt was removed, leaving vehicles to churn up mud, as if the street were an off-road racetrack. Construction has become a given on Hamilton’s block in Edina, Minn., a suburb of Minneapolis. Modest homes constantly are being torn down and replaced with newer, larger, swankier houses.

Larson resigned in December. Kwame Kamau James, 45, was appointed to the board during an organizational meeting Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021. He was one of six candidates who ran for three open seats on the board in the Nov. 3 general election.

Carolyn Berens retires as Vice-President of First Bank Kansas

Berens, a 48-year professional in the financial industry, recently retired as Vice-President of First Bank Kansas. Berens, of Victoria, Kansas, said her first job following high school was in 1973 at the Farmer’s Co-op Credit Union in Hays. In 1974, Berens married Bernie Berens and moved to Salina. Berens worked for numerous banks prior to joining First Bank Kansas, including Bank of America, Nation’s Bank and People’s Heritage. “There was a period in time where banks were always being bought and the names changed,” she said, jokingly. “That’s when First Bank Kansas approached me and said you need to come work for a family bank. ”
