An armed man who barricaded himself inside his room at a resort hotel in Hawaii and shot at security staff through the closed door was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Sunday morning, according to officials.
The hours-long lockdown began Saturday evening around 6 p.m. at the Kahala Hotel & Resort in Honolulu after a report of shots fired from the fourth floor, according to Hawaii News Now.
Responding police evacuated the beach and the surrounding guest rooms and herded more than 100 people into the hotel ballroom and lobby.
