would be treated for months. every single school told us the same thing. find the best fit for your child. we did that. we submitted an application with 10 choices and apparently none of those 10 are acceptable for my daughter. i urge you to change course and do the right thing. [applause] good evening, my name is tony wilson. i m the father of a 4-year-old child who will turn 5 in november. i want to talk about the transitional kindergarten program. i mean, i read is sfusc mission statement. what stood out to me is the access and equity. i fail to understand how the kindergarten program presented as the only option for all of these kids is either accessible or equitable. the other thing the other thing i read is that we should be holding people accountable. i want to hold the board accountable for providing a proper, transitional kindergarten program. it seems as though sfusd is looking for an excuse not to provide a program. let s face the factory is still law, it is real
i am a counselor at mlk. i am speaking on behalf of the counseling department. the goal of the counseling department is to help children make the school better and give the children positive experiences. we are trying to improve the quality of life. the counseling department is made up of dedicated educational professionals with many years of experience. i have 15. all members of the counseling department at spend far more hours of school than the contract calls for. we do the best job possible no matter how long or how much effort is required. we go above and beyond the call of duty. we work in the best interest of the children. the bullying from the administration has gotten worse since we have spoken. this is what we are told. informing is not the same as intervention. i know who you report to, but what are you doing? we constantly have to justify what we do. why are you telling me and not another counselor? being thrown off about another incident, i finally walked off i
do you know? go ahead. or on. hold on. we will give you two minutes instead of once. and you ask us to get involved with our kids education grid when we do, our voices are totally ignored. the only choice that we see seems to think is racism. what we ask for at our school, what we elect is ignored. they put in their personal they put their personal agendas in front of our kids education. believe it or not, there are some decent black and latino families in 92114 who would like to see our kids educated and attend college. in the over 40 years i have been a student, parent, grandparent, to have a principal and vice principal go around and hand out pink slips to teachers that are doing their jobs. there are not doing their job because one teacher does not want to teach three kids that are disrupting the entire classroom in order to teach 20 more kids. one teacher who is doing her job excellent is not being asked to come back because she voices your opinion? one teacher w
i want to thank you for listening to me tonight. and i encourage you to support the administration on continuing their efforts to improve p.e. in our element schools. thank you. [applause] hi, there. my name is heather murdoch. i m an s.t. resident in the western edition of the part of the city and i m the mother of a 4-year-old child and is caught up in the various different decisions that have been happening around transitional kindergarten. where we re right now, you are providing two services. that is just not an option for our family. i could not make the logistics work. there are numerous families where we are looking how are we going to get our children educated and we don t have answers right now. so i m looking to the board and to mr. garcia to see if they can help provide whether that would be through a waiver program or through a transitional kindergarten location. i m staggered that they feel it is acceptable to throw effectively 300 applications oits of the kin
i fail to understand how the kindergarten program presented as the only option for all of these kids is either accessible or equitable. the other thing the other thing i read is that we should be holding people accountable. i want to hold the board accountable for providing a proper, transitional kindergarten program. it seems as though sfusd is looking for an excuse not to provide a program. let s face the factory is still law, it is reality. let s face the facts. it is still law, it is reality. we are talking about 300-400 school kids who will be impacted this year. if you project those numbers, it will be close to 1000 school kids in three years. we need a proper program. when a program that has some thought put into it. a program that does not change every five minutes. we need sfusd to stop cherry picking and choosing the plate the pieces of information they want to choose to change the course. it is a law. i saw the pieces of paper that went around. you are choosing
