The trip came as Biden works with a bipartisan group of senators, including Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, to push a $1.2 trillion infrastructure package through Congress. Senate Republicans on Wednesday blocked an effort to start debate on the bipartisan proposal, but Biden said he expects the Senate to proceed Monday after a group of GOP senators committed to moving forward. He called Portman a decent, honorable man and pledged that lawmakers would eventually reach an agreement.
