AstraZeneca becomes fourth vaccine headed for emergency use approval Share Updated: 3:45 PM EST Feb 3, 2021 Share Updated: 3:45 PM EST Feb 3, 2021 After being studied in Cincinnati, AstraZeneca is about to be the fourth vaccine to apply to the FDA for emergency use.AstraZeneca was studied at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, among other sites, and was found to have an efficacy of 82%.Since the efficacy is over the minimum target, some believe that number may not be as important as the number of vaccines potentially available soon. “I’m looking at the next few weeks, we will have four vaccines that are available in the community to get us out of this pandemic,” said Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Dr. Robert Frenck.Frenck worked on the AstraZeneca study, which enrolled 503 people in Cincinnati.
