Crash kills pedestrian on Georgia Avenue in Aspen Hill

Claire E. Weissmeyer Grossmann, 63, of Silver Spring, was trying to cross Georgia Avenue near its intersection with Rippling Brook Drive, police said in a press release. German Alexis Del Cid Mejia, 19, of Rockville, was driving a 2015 Toyota Camry north on Georgia Avenue when his car struck Grossmann around 11 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Grossmann was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Mejia was not injured. Police had posted about the crash on Twitter earlier on Thursday, but did not include details about the crash or the identity of the driver and victim.
