A FEW WEEKS ago Ireland’s Anna Caplice was asked about the significance of the newly announced WXV tournament, and joked it was very much welcomed as she was ‘sick of playing Wales’ so often.
In most seasons that is probably the case, but this time around Adam Griggs’ squad will never have been happier to see their familiar foes from across the pond.

HANNAH TYRRELL SAID Ireland felt like they had put a long six months behind them with their impressive 45-0 defeat of Wales in Cardiff today.
Despite some concerns Ireland might be a little match rusty given the six-month gap since their last competitive outing, Adam Griggs’ side blew Wales away with a blistering first-half display, wrapping up the bonus point before half-time with a dominant performance full of attacking intent.

THE NOISES COMING out of the Ireland camp have been overwhelmingly positive ahead of tomorrow’s Six Nations opener against Wales [KO 5pm, RTÉ], with the picture painted one of a fitter, smarter, better drilled Irish team.

FOLLOWING MONTHS OF disappointments and setbacks, the Ireland Women’s squad are “jumping out of their skin” as they head into their first match week of the delayed 2021 Six Nations.
The tournament was due to take place in it’s usual February-March window but was postponed due to concerns surrounding coronavirus.
The Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in New Zealand this autumn, has also been delayed a year, while Ireland have also seen qualification fixtures for that tournament shelved.
