No sentence for the Claremont Killer which would have satisfied the public23/12/2020|6min
Investigative Journalist Steve Pennells says the case of Claremont Killer Bradley Edwards has been “embedded into the DNA of Perth”, and no sentence for the killer would have satisfied the public.
Justice Stephen Hall on Wednesday gave Mr Edwards two life sentences for the murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon; Mr Edwards will spend a minimum of 40 years behind bars.
“This is a case that’s gripped WA like no other one,” Mr Pennells told Sky News.
“A sign of that was this morning at court, I understand at 4.30am there were people queuing up – members of the public – and some of them hadn’t even been born when the murders happened.”

Hopes of Western Australians pinned on Justice Hall amid Claremont killer sentencing23/12/2020|11min
Sky News contributor Jane Marwick says the hopes of Western Australians will be pinned on Justice Hall that Claremont Killer Bradley Edwards does not ever get parole.
“Certainly, the people of Western Australia never, ever want to see this man walk free,” Ms Marwick said.
After hundreds of witnesses, thousands of exhibits, Bradley Robert Edwards will be sentenced for the murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon.
The two women disappeared after separate nights out in Claremont between January 1996 and March 1997, as did 18-year-old Sarah Spears whose body has never been found.
Claremont Killer still has ‘control’ over the families of victims23/12/2020|4min
Investigative Journalist Steve Pennells says Claremont Killer Bradley Edwards still – in a way – has control over the families of his victims by holding back from giving any answers.
It comes after Justice Stephen Hall gave Mr Edwards two life sentences for the murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon; he will spend a minimum of 40 years in jail.
“It’s hard because he (Edwards) is a man who didn’t give answers, and he still has that control over the families in a way; by holding back what he knows,” Mr Pennells told Sky News host Chris Smith.
Claremont Killer ‘shocked’ people as he was a ‘seemingly unremarkable man’23/12/2020|5min
Sky News contributor Jane Marwick says she thinks the thing which shocked people who knew the Claremont Killer is that he was a “seemingly unremarkable man” who was capable of such heinous crimes.
Justice Stephen Hall on Wednesday gave Claremont Killer Bradley Edwards two life sentences for the murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon.
Mr Edwards will serve a minimum of 40 years in prison.
“The judge did say that this man (Bradley Edwards) led an ordinary life while his offending was escalating,” Ms Marwick said.
“His ability to carry on as normal, that is the thing I think that shocked people who knew him.
