Afternoon. Thousands of cars and people jammed up the streets and parking lots between east side and downtown san jose. All ignoring shelter in place orders and social distancing guidelines. We do have teams ready to go disbursing crowds if needed. They say they will be ready in case there is a repeat. Theyre enforcing what theyre calling Public Safety issues. You have individuals being released for major type crimes. To expect Police Officers to go to crowds and give citations or arrests break on based on public issues. He was a big guy, definitely it gentle giant. Reporter Terry Blanchard was known for his big heart. His daughter said me tells me his love extended to the many at risk children he mentored, serving on the board of the east Oakland Youth Development center for 10 years. The last two, as president. He had an amazing sense of humor. He made everybody laugh. Reporter in early march blanchard and his wife deborah, both 56, contracted covid19. Possibly, their daughter says, friend falling on hard times and was staying with them. It was really hard on our family because we couldnt check on them. We can only call. Reporter sydney says her mother recovered, her father didnt have a fever at first, but eventually developed one, was hospitalized and placed on a ventilatorsunday. My dad wasnt supposed to die. He never expected to die. This is not anything we wouldve imagined. Reporter now family and friends are taking solace in remembering his impact on the east Oakland Youth Development center. Th
