Cathedral City home invasion suspect shot by homeowner, police say

A home invasion suspect was shot by a homeowner in Cathedral City on Sunday evening in the 38200 block of Chuperosa Lane, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.  Police said dispatch received 911 calls around 6:15 p.m., reporting that a male intruder had entered the home and threatened the elderly occupants to leave. The homeowners attempted to defuse the situation, but the intruder became agitated and made threats against their lives, according to police. Officials said the 85-year-old homeowner then retrieved a firearm and shot the intruder in the upper body.  Officers arrived on the scene and began conducting emergency life-saving measures. The subject was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he is currently listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit.
