BOARDMAN A new outdoor activity at Boardman Glenwood Junior High is open for the public, thanks to teachers getting a grant.
Tim Harker, a technology teacher, and science teacher Eric Diefenderfer assembled a team of teachers, administrators and maintenance staff that built the Spartan Disc Golf Course at the school over spring break.
The team won a $2,700 national grant from the GPD Employees Foundation. The foundation, established in 2014, aids in channeling donations that will enrich the K-12 public education experience
“It was truly a group effort,” Harker said. “We all had input to earn the grant.”
Physical education teachers researched the equipment needed, while science teachers helped build and plan for the course. Mike Shevock, music teacher, and Principal Bart Smith showed up to dig and build.
