ATHOL – Mitchell R. Grosky – or “Mitch,” as his friends and colleagues know him – has decided that after nine years on the Athol Royalston Regional School Committee, and serving a couple of stints on Athol’s Selectboard, that it’s time to take a step.

ATHOL A week after holding a public hearing on the proposed spending plan, the Athol Royalston Regional School Committee last Wednesday endorsed a FY22 education budget of just over $29.5 million.
“Last week,” said Superintendent Darcy Fernandes, “we did present this budget to the community, and all of the current School Committee members were present.”
She then went on to note that one minor tweak to the proposal had been made during the intervening week.
“There has only been one change made to the document as we go forward for a vote tonight,” she continued. “If you look at the sheet where we outline our spending, what was not included in the last one was the mentor for our new business manager and for our facilities manager.
