Intrenchment Creek Park, the area near the planned Atlanta Public Safety Training Center where police say they found booby traps, drugs and Molotov cocktails during a cleanup in March, is scheduled to reopen soon according to a top DeKalb County official.
DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer Michael Thurmond, on June 6, announced he plans to reopen Intrenchment Creek Park on Bouldercrest Road Southeast. The announcement did not provide details for reopening the park, but says $1.8 million will go toward constructing new amenities.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced preliminary grant awards for 142 projects that aim to improve neighborhood assets like parks, sidewalks, recreation facilities and healthy food access. The grant awards total over $225 million. DeKalb County and the cities of Avondale Estates and Decatur will receive grants for various park improvements.
For the next two weeks, seniors will compete in a variety of sports including horseshoes, golf, track and field, basketball, tennis, swimming, and even dancing. Winners at the local level are competing to participate in the state championship and eventually nationals.
