Macy’s has shaken up its C suite, saying goodbye to its chief operations officer, as well as the cofounder of beauty brand Bluemercury.
Chief operations officer John Harper, a 35-year veteran of the department store and its Macy’s division, will leave the company on Aug. 1. He has served as its COO since 2020, according to LinkedIn, and before that served as its chief stores officer.
Following his departure, the COO role will be eliminated, and chief stores officer Marc Mastronardi and chief supply chain officer Dennis Mullahy will report to chairman and CEO Jeff Gennette.
In addition, Laura Miller has been appointed the retailer’s chief information officer, effective March 15. Miller most recently served as chief information officer of InterContinental Hotel Group. She succeeds chief technology officer Naveen Krishna, who is leaving the company.

Marla Beck, CEO and co-founder of Bluemercury, is also stepping down this summer.
Macy s announced Monday a number of management changes as the department store looks to overhaul its business and woo back customers who are increasingly shopping online and avoiding malls during the pandemic.
