World history surveys to freshman, i tell the students, most of whom are there only because the university requires them, that the value of history lies in its ability for us to see the past in such a way that we can reimagine the present and the future. That perspective can allow us to create a better world than the one in which we now inhabit. This is the gift our speaker, Michael Kazin brings to us tonight and has shared with the readers of many of his books, such as his biography of William Jennings bryan, his account of the political place of the left in American History, and most relatively to this conference, his recent study of peace activists in world war i. He is a professor of history at Georgetown University and the editor of descent magazine. He writes for the new york times, foreign affairs, the nation, and the daily beast. Event that would take place here at the National World war i museum and memorial. I was thrilled to have them become an official cosponsor and part of the program committee. It was also four years ago this mornings keynote speaker, and isor Erika Kuhlman were in contact with the peace history journal. It was around that time she was informing me that when her threeyear term at the journal finished, she planned to step down in order to complete her manuscript on the International Migration of german war veterans. Like any good organizational president , i tried to get her to change her mind since she had , been such a great editor and because i wanted to pass off the work of finding a replacement to my successor. She refused, but she did remain a valued member of the organization and is now serving on the board of the peace history society. Drake Williams of the Cherokee FFA Chapter earned first-place honors in the 2021 Oklahoma FFA Agricultural Sales Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award area during the 95th annual Oklahoma FFA Convention on April 28.
Williams has bought and sold various breeds of sheep and goats as well as exotics from sales across the state and sold them to families in multiple states. I try to keep a very broad client base, Williams said. I ve sold to families in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri.
Williams said he is a one-man crew and has learned to carry out all responsibilities even though it can be overwhelming at times. Some of these responsibilities are purchasing, marketing, selling, feeding, doctoring, maintenance and customer relations.
