DANVILLE, Va. â City Manager Ken Larking presented the proposed Fiscal Year 2021-2022 budget, which includes no proposed tax increases, no rate increases, no use of the fund balance and several areas for investment, to Danville City Council in a work session Tuesday evening.
âWe want to invest in Danville,â Larking said during the meeting. âWe want to invest in our neighborhoods and people. We want to create a great home for our community, and this is how we do that.â
Danvilleâs budget for next year is an expected $114.7 million dollars. Major revenue increases include $410,000 in additional delinquent and current real estate taxes, more than $130,000 in additional personal property taxes and nearly $1 million in additional sales taxes. However, they are also looking at a just over $250,000 reduction in hotel tax revenue, which Larking said is COVID related.Â
