Anambra Gets New CP As IGP Overhauls Southeast Security Structure

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Acting Inspector General of Police (I-G), Mr Usman Baba, has ordered the deployment of Mr Christopher Owolabi, as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Police Command in Anambra. The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mr Frank Mba, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja. The I-G also approved the deployment of other strategic and tactical commanders within the zones, two Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), 14 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and other mid-level officers. Baba said the deployment of the new CP is part of the ongoing efforts to re-order, overhaul and strengthen the security and policing architecture in Anambra and other States in the South-East and South-South.

Kuryas, who has been redeployed to the Anti-Fraud Section of the Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos, is to be replaced by Christopher Owolabi. x The deployment, the IGP said, was part of ongoing efforts at re-ordering, overhauling, and strengthening the security and policing architecture in Anambra, Southeast, and South-South regions. The development may not be connected with the rising insecurity in the two zones, which has led to the killing of many people, including security personnel.

Four AIGs, CP elevated to DIG, 13 CPs become AIGs

Punch Newspapers Sections Adelani Adepegba,Abuja The Police Service Commission on Friday, promoted four Assistant Inspectors- General of Police and one Commissioner of Police to the substantive rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police. The new DIGs were expected to represent their geo-political zones in the Police Management Team. They are Usman Baba, currently acting DIG Administration; Dan Mallam Mohammed, AIG in charge of Zone 13 Ukpo, Anambra State; David Folawiyo, AIG in charge of Zone 17, Akure and Joseph Egbunike, CP, Budget. According to a statement by the PSC spokesman,  Ikechukwu Ani, the decision was taken at the meeting of the commission in Abuja.
