The Sandwich Zoning Board of Appeals this week approved plans to demolish two single-family homes in town—one in East Sandwich and the other along Phillips Road—and in their place construct
A landowner who is stuck between a rock and a hard placeâactually between unbuildable acreage and a historic ox pathâcame to the zoning board of appeals this week hoping for relief.
Specifically, landowner Cary Casoli was seeking a variance from the ZBA that would allow him to separate a 7-acre piece of property on Route 6A into two lots.
Although it seemed like a simple request, the situation was far more complicated, Mr. Casoliâs attorney, Benjamin J. Losordo, told the ZBA members on Tuesday, May 25.
Two parcels, 209 Route 6A and 0 Route 6A, were merged in 2014 when Justice Resource Institute purchased the acreage with intentions to build a school for emotionally challenged kids.
