Supervisor Taylor to introduce resolution funding Dontre Hamilton memorial bench See Also Friday night, Hamilton s family and members of the People s Revolution gathered at the park to mark the anniversary and to call for racial justice.  Milwaukee County Supervisor Sequanna Taylor says she will introduce a resolution calling for placement of a Dontre Hamilton memorial bench in Red Arrow Park. “Dontre Hamilton should still be with us today,” said Supervisor Taylor. “His story is just one of many examples of Black people taken from us too soon due to police violence. This memorial would serve as a reminder that Dontre had been minding his own business, sleeping on a park bench, when he was assaulted and killed by a police officer.”

george howell is in milwaukee for us this morning with more. reporter: a group of protesters gathered in downtown milwaukee. i want to show you the group at red arrow park. all this in decision of not charging a police officer for fatally shooting a mentally ill man. this happened in april when officer christopher manney shot and killed a man sleeping in the park. the two got into a confrontation. the officer claims that hamilton grabbed his baton and struck him. that is when the officer claims he used deadly force to defend himself. the officer was fired from his job. the police chief saying the officer did identify hamilton as mentally ill and did not follow training and he instigated that fight. again, the case went to a prosecuting attorney and the decision not to charge the police officer. however, we have learned that
