The politicians murdered are a former political adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan and a member of the All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Gulak,  as well as Christopher Dega, a retired police officer and until his death, Senior Special Assistant to Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.
