A total of 807 Chautauqua County residents have received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine from the county Health Department. For now, that number will not be permitted to go up.
According to the Associated Press, the U.S. on Tuesday recommended a “pause” in using the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to investigate reports of rare but potentially dangerous blood clots, setting off a chain reaction worldwide and dealing a setback to the global vaccine campaign.
Public health directors for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Orleans and Genesee counties say the COVID-19 vaccine rollout has been particularly difficult for rural areas in Western New York.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â Public health directors for Western New York s rural counties say their populations were disadvantaged even before the COVID-19 pandemic hit and resources are needed to help vaccinate their communities.
Five public health directors overseeing six counties say this pocket of the state has come together to vaccinate Western New Yorker's as quickly as possible.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â Public Health Departments have had pandemic response plans for decades. The departments update these plans yearly and submit them to the state. Health directors said the state decided to not use those plans pertaining to vaccine distribution for the COVID-19 pandemic.
