Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce President Gail Loefgren is getting some help.
While Loefgren is still looking for a full-time executive assistant, the Chamber has hired Christine Rothberg as its director of marketing and communications.
“I get to use my experience as a marketing communications person, and really turn the role into a dual role, which is first connecting the visitors and residents to Longboat Key life and the resources,” Rothberg said. “And, also marketing support for the members, as well as networking opportunities for them within the membership.”
Rothberg, 51, will assist the Chamber in the part-time role with social media endeavors, email communication, flyers, invitations and more. She also has worked as a marketing consultant for the Sand Cay Beach Resort since September 2019, which is a role she will continue.
Jacksonville nonprofits that serve refugees to join forces
Two Jacksonville nonprofits that have collaborated to serve refugees and immigrants plan to merge in the new year.
The nonprofits are Beyond90, so named because it focuses on supportive services, crisis management, empowerment learning and housing for new residents after their initial 90 days of federal funding expires, and Project for Healing, which provides multicultural counseling, legal advocacy, training and psychiatric and community support.
The merged agency, with Beyond90 as the parent, will have an even broader holistic approach to assisting refugees on their journey toward self-sufficiency, said Barton Chelf, president of Beyond90. We believe that we will be able to serve more clients as one entity than the combination of clients we would serve separately.
