Central Bucks student advocates, connects with peers to share world of visually impaired

Titus Elementary School student Krish Rastogi-Wilson views the world a lot differently than his peers. Coming into the world with little to no vision changed his perspective.  But now, at just 9, he s helping others see, and understand, his view of things as he navigates school, camp and more, advocating for himself and others with visual impairment.  Krish has come a long way in his years of living with cortical visual impairment, also known as cerebral visual impairment or CVI. The brain-based condition, which impacts the eye’s connection to the brain, is the leading cause of visual impairment in children in the United States.

Colten's Wish: A Hampton County child has been selected as a Wish Child by the Make-A-Wish Foundation

A brave and special young man living in our community may soon have some wishes fulfilled, but more help is needed to give this youngster the life he deserves. Colten Cain, a 5-year-old from the Nixville area, has captured the hearts of the medical teams working with him, despite his many physical, cognitive and communicative challenges. “I have treated Colten since August 2019 and remain amazed by the progress he makes daily,” said Mandy Freeman Keen, the primary speech language pathologist working with Colten, who is nonverbal. “Colten has overcome many obstacles in his short life that others only hope to accomplish by their elder years. He is a true warrior! He doesn’t talk but that doesn’t mean he can’t communicate,” Keen said. “He communicates in ways society often overlooks. He communicates love through his interaction with his family and other familiar people. He communicates joy through his smiles and incredible laughter … He is an awesome and amazi
