The California Historical society is honored to hold the peoples temple collection. It was chosen as the repository in 1983. We have worked with many survivors and many historians and students who want to learn about what happened in jonestown. We are proud to be the largest repository of these materials. In 1978 more than 900 americans died in jonestown because of cyanide poisoning and what is called the jonestown massacre. The Panel Includes two former members of the peoples temple.
