This fire burned more than 2,000 acres in Elbert County just north of limon. While you were sleeping, crews did get the basin fire under control. It was hot and dry yesterday, highs well into the 80s with gustier conditions. They had cooler weather overnight, so its good they right now in denver, some clear skies. Week looking . Its been 20 months since a driver hit and dragged a Denver Police officer under his car. That officer john adsit is now focused on trying to help others. 18 surgeries later and still recovering. Officer adsit wants to assist other First Responders critically injured on the job. He was hurt so badly the two evidence boxes accident. Adsit had a broken pelvis, broken femur, severed artery, collapsed lung and damage to his eyes. He survived thanks to the support of the community and his family. But he says it wasnt easy. Adsit started a nonprofit called adsit strong. it helps other First Responders with the physical and mental challenges of surviving an on duty injury. On september 17th. Hes holding the adsit strong rise and run 5k. Itll benefit officer tony lopez junior. Hes the Denver Police officer who was shot several times during a traffic stop.
