Navajo police arrest 3 who led car chase, shot at officers

Three people were arrested after leading Navajo police officers on a car chase before shooting at the officers on Monday night near New Mexico, officials say.  About 4:50 p.m., Navajo Police Department Shiprock District officers were assisting with a follow-up investigation for a homicide that occurred Sunday when officers, along with Navajo Criminal Investigations and the FBI, found the homicide suspect at a residence west of Shiprock, New Mexico, according to department spokesperson Christina Tsosie. The suspect did not cooperate and instead fled the scene with two other people in a black Chevrolet Malibu. Officers followed the car southbound on U.S. Highway 491 and the suspects then fired a weapon at the officers, hitting an officer’s windshield, Tsosie said.
