Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has launched a national PSA urging Americans to wear a mask, citing his own experience battling the coronavirus.
“This message isn’t for everyone. It’s for all those people who refuse to wear a mask,” Mr. Christie says in the message, which is being funded by World Health Organization ambassador for global strategy Ray Chambers, the New York Post reported.
“You know, lying in isolation in ICU for seven days, I thought about how wrong I was to remove my mask at the White House,” the New Jersey Republican continued. “Today, I think about how wrong it is to let mask-wearing divide us, especially as we now know you’re twice as likely to get COVID-19 if you don�
I am very happy today for this ad to start to run on TV across America, Christie wrote. I urge all Americans to learn from my experience and to, please, wear a mask and stay safe.
In the PSA, Christie said the reason he contracted the disease was likely when he failed to wear a mask, and the experience made him change his ways. Now, he s asking others to the same, suggesting they will regret their reluctance if they suffer the same consequences he did. This message isn t for everyone. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he learned a vital lesson while he lay in the ICU battling COVID-19 last month wear a mask.
In a video posted to Twitter on Wednesday, Christie called on people to wear facial coverings to protect from the spread of the virus. The former governor struggled with a bout of COVID-19 following his attendance at the ceremony for Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.
