Protest planned at Dauphin County prison where at least 22 inmates have died since 2009
Updated Apr 01, 2021;
Concerned citizens are planning to protest outside the Dauphin County Prison Saturday morning in the wake of a 19-year-old inmate’s sudden death this week.
Kejuan Cooke was pronounced dead at Holy Spirit Hospital after midnight Wednesday after his cellmate found him unresponsive in his cell the night before, county officials said. He had been incarcerated since June on drug possession charges, which violated his parole.
Coroner Graham Hetrick told PennLive Thursday that Cooke had an extensive medical history, but he couldn’t say for sure how he died because of pending tests.
