Indianapolis will remain under a severe weather risk coupled with an extreme heat index through Saturday night as thousands remain without power, the National Weather Service said. Officials are urging customers and residents to have emergency safety plans in place. Approximately 81,000 customers were affected by yesterdays storms that produced high winds and lightning and more than 47,000 customers remain without power as of June 30.
As winter is fast approaching and snow is already falling, many may be wondering where they can go if they lose power, are homeless or need to get warm.
