American Legion State Tournament Begins Thursday

Juneau s Post 25 begins American Legion State Tournament play on Thursday. (Klas Stolpe / KINY) Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The 69th Annual Alaska American Legion Baseball League State Tournament beings Thursday at Anchorage’s Mulcahy Stadium with Juneau Post 25 looking to defeat Chugiak Post 33 in their first round robin action of the post season. “We need to play quality baseball,” Juneau Post 25 co-coach Jeremy Ludeman noted in a message to KINY. “Make the routine plays routine and leave it all on the field. We’ve had many conversations as a team over the last couple months and hope to fulfill some of our team goals and dreams. We need to play how we want to be remembered when everything is said and done.”

Juneau Post 25 Tops Dimond Thursday, Action Again Tonight and Saturday

Juneau Post 25 defeated Dimond Post 21 on Thursday at Adair Kennedy Field. The two teams play tonight at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 and 3:30 p.m. (Klas Stolpe / KINY) Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau’s Post 25 American Legion baseball team topped Dimond Post 21 in a non-league game, 10-3 on Thursday at Adair Kennedy Field.   “Defense is something we still need to improve on,” Juneau co-coach Jeremy Ludeman said. “We have to keep striving for that quality. Even in today’s game we had a few errors that could have changed and ended the game earlier and saved a bit of our pitching.”

Crimson Bears Take Region Title, Look to State

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau-Douglas High School Yadaa.at Kalé boys baseball team won the Region V championship on Saturday with a 12-2 win over Sitka on the road, and will represent Southeast in the state tournament beginning Thursday at Anchorage’s Mulcahy Stadium.

(Klas Stolpe) Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau-Douglas and Thunder Mountain High School baseball teams played long into the night under the Adair Kennedy stadium lights on Wednesday, with the Crimson Bears earning a 14-5 win over the Falcons.   “We came out ready to play,” Juneau-Douglas head coach Chad Bentz said. “We came out where we left off against Petersburg, then we died down a bit, but we managed to put some more pressure on them. We had a couple good bunts, some base running, and I was happy to see that.”

(Klas Stolpe) Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau-Douglas High School Yadaa.at Kalé baseball team put up 36 runs in two games on Saturday at Adair Kennedy Field, topping the visiting Petersburg Vikings 13-2 and 23-1 in non-conference action.   “The players came out swinging and they didn’t stop,” Juneau-Douglas coach Chad Bentz said. “It was a really good weekend but I am honestly not surprised because they had a really good week of practice. I’ve always told them, if we prepare the right way the games will take care of themselves.”
