(ABC 6 News) - The City of Rochester wants community members to be safe and aware that any individual who knocks on a residential door with an offer to sell or solicit a product or service should have a valid peddler permit from the City.
However, charitable foundations, non-profits and religious groups do not need the permit. A peddler permit acts as an endorsement from the City that this individual has passed background checks and that their associated company has a safe and approved COVID-19 preparedness plan. Each peddler permit is valid for only one month and individuals must renew at the end of the outlined period. This allows the City to review any complaints against the peddler and determine if we should renew their permit,” shares Christiaan Cartwright, License Examiner for the City of Rochester.
