“He always had the time for a yarn, he was a top man.” The 86-year-old was driving along the Christchurch Northern Motorway with his wife on May 11 when he suffered a heart attack and was involved in a three-car crash. His wife survived with broken ribs and was taken to hospital.

A person has died after a multi-car crash at the merge section of the Christchurch Northern Motorway near Belfast. The pair had been on their way home to Kaikōura after visiting Christchurch. Seddon was born in Hamilton in 1935 but spent most of his later life south of Kaikōura where he bought a farm in 1963, naming it Acacia Downs.
“People who are back at work from 11 January onwards can take this great opportunity to try the new services out for free for a couple of weeks, to see if the bus works for them,’’ he said. “We are really happy to be able to offer this period of free travel to support the new services getting off to a strong start.” The new direct routes were created in response to public feedback on public transport last year. The buses will use the new T2 lanes on the Christchurch Northern Motorway, and the dedicated bus lanes on Cranford St, but can use other routes depending on traffic.
