Hanover Area residents line up for food distribution

HANOVER TWP. — Dozens and dozens of vehicles lined up Monday afternoon at the Hanover Area High School parking lot for a holiday food distribution for families in need. Around 250 Hanover Area families signed up to get roughly $125 in food per family, and the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the demand for food in the area, high school business teacher Christa Langdon said. “Most definitely. Prior to the pandemic, we were averaging maybe about 100 or so,” Langdon said. “But now since the pandemic, and we’ve only done this twice since Easter, we’re at 225, 235, that are solid. It definitely has increased between the pandemic and I think the kids being home all the time. You know, just feeding families.”
