Eastwood mum and son attacked man with umbrella and speaker | Clacton and Frinton Gazette

A MUM and her son attacked a man in a drunken row with the mum attempting to stab the victim with an umbrella. Patricia Duddridge and her son Shane Ruffell attacked the man in Duddridge’s own home in Eastwood following the row. After the 64-year-old woman attacked him with the umbrella, Ruffell, 43, arrived and grabbed a speaker and threw it at the man’s face, which has left a permanent scar. He claimed he feared for his mum’s safety. The man and Duddridge had a history of socialising and drinking together. Basildon Crown Court heard that the victim had received a call saying people were trying to get into his home, and returned to his house in Priory Wood Drive.

Teen found knife in Chalkwell Park during night of unrest

A TEENAGER has been spared jail after being found with a knife during a night of unrest which saw police flood Chalkwell Park. Police swarmed the park, just off London Road, in Westcliff, on May 25 after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed. The incident shocked the community with residents raising serious concerns around knife crime. As police carried out patrols, they found Keylen Akinola, 18, in close vicinity to the park and in a “sweaty state”. After being informed of the stabbing, he initially insisted he didn’t know anything and was unaware, before claiming his friend was the victim and he wanted to see if he was okay.
