In the middle of a global pandemic, when thousands of restaurants had gone to the wall, New Zealanders were still choosing between the chicken or the fish. Donations of £575 each have been presented to two projects by Haworth & Worth Valley Rotarians. The cash was raised through a hugely-successful virtual balloon race held in September. Beneficiaries are the Worth Valley Food Bank, based at West Lane Baptist Church in Haworth, and a scheme hosted by Keighley Salvation Army. Ian Park, president of Haworth & Worth Valley Rotary Club, said: “Although the balloon race was staged online and not in reality, we were delighted so many people joined in the fun. “We’ve shared the £1,150 raised between both of the area’s food banks and hope it will aid them as they support the people who have been hit hardest by the lasting effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.
