Tony Adeane was known as a hard-line judge, a man who did things his own way. But in failing to follow one fundamental rule, he ran unfair trials that saw convictions thrown out, people wrongfully imprisoned, and lives ruined.
But Tennet, closing his case, said there was no evidence to pin any planning on Jeremiah Su’a. Mariota Su’a, however, was recorded talking to someone in prison about cleaning up the gang and Jeremiah Su a doing nothing about it. Jeremiah Su’a spoke to police about not being able to control his brother and never spoke about planning Wilkinson’s death, despite his phone being tapped for two months and his text messages being gathered by police, Tennet said.
Murray Wilson/Stuff “Who is the organiser? Who is putting the discipline back in the mob?” There was not enough evidence to even prove the violence against Rowe and Wilkinson, who suffered wounds from a weapon like a machete, was planned, Tennet said.

A trial in which two brothers from Napier are among five men charged with murdering a fellow gang member, also from Napier, is drawing to a close, entering its 11th week in the High Court in Palmerston North.
The trial started on February 11 with Manawatu Mongrel Mob Aotearoa chapter president Jeremiah Christopher Su a, brother Mariota Su a, Dean Arthur Jennings, Quentin Joseph Moananui, and Jason David Signal charged with murdering father-of-three Codi Jarmen Wilkinson, who was 27 when he died 18 months ago.
Rowe and Wilkinson had been at Hewitt s house to collect some of Wilkinson s clothing and other items. Wilkinson was standing in her bedroom when men arrived and she told him Moananui was outside. Wilkinson told her to stay inside, and he went outside with Rowe. “He walked out and I didn t see him again,” Hewitt said. She was trying to put her 3-year-old son to bed, then she heard banging which she thought was coming from the garage. “I saw [Rowe] on the driveway on his knees with blood pouring out his head.”
