Developer Cabotlane, based in Sible Hedingham, wants permission for 39 homes off Oak Road. The developer says the homes will contribute to Braintree Council’s five-year “housing land supply deficit” and claims the site is located in a sustainable position on the outskirts of town. It said the development would generate construction jobs and claimed the site would not have a “detrimental impact in respect to flood risk and drainage, transport and access, heritage, ecology, landscape, noise utilities, contamination or air quality”. The application has already seen protests from residents, with Halstead Town Council reportedly objecting unanimously to the application on Monday, although the minutes for the meeting are yet to be released.
MORE police officers are taking to Halstead town centre in a bid to crack down on a rise in anti-social behaviour. Residents can expect to see more police officers in the town following a number of complaints from residents. Essex Police has deployed more patrols in the town’s public gardens after being contacted by Halstead Town Council following reports of residents noticing more anti-social behaviour in recent weeks. An Essex Police spokesman said: “Following concerns raised by residents of Halstead about people gathering in the town park causing anti-social behaviour, officers have been regularly patrolling the area dealing with any anti-social behaviour they come across.”
