Thus, isn t Danbury Republican Mayor Joe Cavo s proposed $267 million budget for the fiscal year starting July 1 – which doesn t have a tax increase – the best option for the Hat City, which has struggled to recover from the pandemic?

DANBURY Officially, the race for mayor will take shape in one month, when Mayor Joe Cavo exercises his right of first refusal, and tells the GOP whether he’ll run for the office he’s held since December, when Republican Mark Boughton abruptly resigned.
At the same time, the race for the city’s highest elected office is well underway for Democrats, whose front-runner Roberto Alves raised $55,000 in his first month of candidacy.

DANBURY Democrat Roberto Alves announced Thursday he is running for mayor, emphasizing his family’s working class roots and his desire to support residents.
“We’re facing challenges that can’t be fixed overnight,” said Alves, 37, a first-term city councilman. “It’s going to take hard work and determination to make sure we keep our promises to our kids, our neighbors, our businesses, and our seniors, but together we can build a better Danbury. I hope I can earn your support.”
There is a massive power vacuum set to open in Danbury next fall and I need to be out in front of the tectonic shift. I presented him with a plan, we would form an alliance, I d run for Mayor as a Republican, he d run as a Democrat and we would battle it out may the best man win style. No matter the outcome, we could secretly share power. As all good radio guests do, he agreed with the host. He was of course joking, but did angle for a regular guest spot on the radio show.
