The in-town T:GO bus service has been enhanced by adding a stop in front of the Tillsonburg Library, across the street from an existing bus stop in front of The Town Centre mall on Broadway.
At town council’s Feb. 22 meeting, Coun. Deb Gilvesy wondered if the bus routes should also be expanded in other parts of town.

“Was it discussed about the north end of town?” she asked. “Along North Street there is basically one whole quadrant of the town that has no bus service at all. Since we’re amending the route, why wouldn’t we have taken a look at that.”

Any plans that would see an expansion to the Tillsonburg Business improvement Area will have to wait for at least one year.
Town council voted against a proposal that would’ve seen the local business improvement area expand to include more businesses.

In a recorded vote, which ended in a 3-3 tie, the resolution to proceed this year was defeated. It was opposed by Couns. Chris Rosehart, Chris Parker and Mayor Stephen Molnar. Coun. Deb Gilvesy did not vote.

Following three sessions, Tillsonburg council had an almost final 2021 budget on the table for a vote its Jan. 11 meeting.
But councillors weren’t quite done yet.

Coun. Deb Gilvesy successfully proposed that $150,000 of Tillsonburg’s surplus from its 2020 budget be carried forward and used as part of the taxation dollar requirement in the 2021 budget “to aid in reducing and mitigating the tax rate to local ratepayers.”
“If there’s any year we could try to help out our ratepayers, this is it,” Gilvesy said.
