MADISON, Wis. As the pandemic continues, the spiritual men and women supporting hospitals across Wisconsin are using every tool they can to ensure their teams can meet the needs of patients in end of life moments.
At UW Health, chaplains are no longer allowed to enter the room of COVID patients, but that’s not stopping them from finding creative ways to ensure they tend to the most critical. We can be on a phone outside the room, we re able to meet with family members prior to them going up and, and having the N-95, and going bedside were able to be on a speakerphone when families gathered there, UW Health Chaplain Supervisor Kendra McIntosh said. So, there is that balance between keeping my staff safe and being able to provide the best spiritual spiritual care possible, she said.
