Friday, February 5th 2021, 5:30 am - The conditions caused complications and delays in rescue efforts.
The avalanches caused more than 100 deaths.
The mountainous regions of eastern Afghanistan experienced extreme snow, which set off a series of avalanches. Some areas received up to 2.5 metres of snow, which complicated avalanche rescue efforts.
The extreme winter conditions also affected 22 out of the 34 provinces in Afghanistan. This added to barriers to aid.
Some areas were able to get assistance earlier on, receiving emergency dry food, cash assistance, medical supplies and health kits.

Randi Mann
Saturday, January 30th 2021, 6:01 am - There were 191 people on board.
The SS City of Boston was an iron-hulled, single-screw passenger steamship. Her maiden voyage was on Feb. 8, 1865, from Liverpool to New York. Her final sail took place on or after Jan. 28, 1870. Of course, no one knows the exact date as she disappeared.
The City of Boston s final voyage was supposed to be from Nova Scotia to Liverpool. Onboard was Capt. Halcrow, plus 83 crew, 55 cabin passengers, and because it was the 1800s, an additional distinctly counted 52 steerage passengers.

Wednesday, January 27th 2021, 6:01 am - The bridge had several close calls before ice stormed down the Niagra River and ultimately destroyed the structure.
It seems like the fate of the Upper Steel Arch Bridge was doomed since its completion in 1898. The structure, also known as the Honeymoon Bridge or Fallsview Bridge, was a bridge over the Niagara River that connected Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, with Niagara Falls, New York, United States.
At the time, it was said to be the greatest steel arch bridge in the world.
