Mass vaccinations of the Pfizer vaccine began this weekend in Little Current at the Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands recreation complex.
The Manitoulin Health Centre has purchased an ultra-low freezer with the capacity to reach a temperature of -86 degrees Celsius to store the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines.
The freezer can store over 21,000 vaccines at a time.
The purchase price of approximately $12,000 was allocated from funds remaining in the Manitoulin ventilator campaign, which was originally initiated by M’Chigeeng First Nation Chief Linda Debassige.
