Given the exponential growth in the interest for the Porsche 911 these days, it seems almost impossible to believe that the rear-engined model was supposed to be replaced by the 928 in the late 1970s. Alas, we have yet to receive a successor for the latter since the V8 grand tourer left the scene in 1995. Well, digital artist Chris Labrooy now takes the 928 into the future thanks to one of his most elaborate renderings to date. 8 photos
The Scottish artist has joined forces with Porsche in the past and you can instantly feel the enthusiast s connection to Zuffenhausen s machines in the pixels he puts together.
Maybe you’ve seen a picture of a 911 Turbo in a pool or a pink 911, looking like an inflatable flamingo. In either case, you’ve likely thought, “Weird. I love it!” And you aren’t alone.
These digital paintings are the creation of Scotland’s Chris Labrooy and you’ll be relieved to hear that even he has a hard time summing up his own work.
“It’s really difficult to describe what I do,” says Labrooy. “I get up in the morning and make pictures. It’s a lifestyle that gives me a lot of freedom to pursue different ideas. I have called myself a digital image maker working at the intersection of art and design. Does that sound a bit vague?”
