Chesapeake Beach town officials announced that Chris Jakubiak will be stepping down from his role as the municipality’s planning and zoning administrator, a post he has held for the past
One of northern Calvertâs largest tourist draws was given a nod to revise its expansion plan, despite concerns from some local officials.
The second phase of the Rod âNâ Reel Resortâs redevelopment project was presented to the Chesapeake Beach Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday night. The virtual meeting lasted over three hours.
A previous town planning board had approved the second phase but because the resortâs owners decided to tweak the plan, which will expand the hotel, town planning administrator Chris Jakubiak felt the panel needed to sign off on the changes.
âItâs a major revision,â said Jakubiak.
ROCK HALL â With Mayor Dawn Jacobs against, the Rock Hall council approved Dec. 10 amending its fees and charges for zoning and building permits.
The changes come after Kent County notified the town in mid-2019 that it would no longer provide planning and zoning services. The town hired Planning and Zoning Administrator Chris Jakubiak to complete those services.
Vice Mayor Beth Andrews said, when the ordinance was introduced, the town had not budgeted enough money to account for the extent to which Jakubiakâs services are needed.
The ordinance can be viewed at the town’s website, rockhallmd.com.
Andrews said fees have not changed since 2007, if not earlier. She said while taxpayer money does go toward paying for town services, that money should not be used to subsidize services. She said raising the fees will help bridge the gap.
