. this is wjztv, wjzhd and wjz.com baltimore. from the city to the counties to your neighborhood, now, it s complete coverage, it s wjz, maryland s news station. hello, everybody. we are following some breaking news tonight. violence break out as thousands gather downtown. a young child was rushed to the hospital after either being stabbed or shot. live to the inner harbor, mike. reporter: we have learned that that child was shot. that child was 4 years old. we have some video just from the scene. this is where there were dozens of police officers already stationed here with a command post. that child s parents were walking with him. the little toddler started to cry. it turns out that little baby was shot in the leg or the groin area and is now being taken to johns hopkins children s center. we are also investigating a report of a stabbing just across the harbor here from where i m standing at the mccormick and smiks. and there was a fight close to where i m standing

king and west pratt street. wasn t like they hit a deer. you hit two kids. how can you not stop? she was an awesome sister. emerald s family left devastated by the accident. if i had a magic wand, i d have them both back, wouldn t i? yes. yes, i would. because no parent should have to go through what i m going through right now. reporter: soon after, police found a car involved in an accident near the airport. apparently there was fresh damage on the vehicle, which indicated to officers that this vehicle may have been involved in an accident. reporter: detectives already interviewed two people in the car. notice they re trying now they re trying to determine who took off. courtney was walking with emerald because she didn t want her walking alone because it was safe. so they were safety- conscious? yes. courtney s older sister has this message. i hope they rot in jail. i hope they think about this every day of their life and the guilt eats away a
