gathered in philadelphia today for a final salute to a fallen temple university police officer. the first to be gunned down in the line of duty there. here is cbs s lilia luciano. reporter: the city of brotherly love bidding farewell to temple university officer chris fitzgerald, hailed for having the heart of a hero. chris isn t just another headline. another statistic. just another death. reporter: fitzgerald was shot and killed during a struggle after chasing a robbery suspect near campus on saturday. 18-year-old miles pfeffer was arrested and charged with murder. i was always going to have a fear of getting a phone call, or a police officer knocking on my door. reporter: his widow marissa says he preferred being out in the community to a desk job. then this happens. and it is literally my worst fear, and it is my greatest nightmare.
